The proposed cuts would cut back Schiphol’s capability from 500,000 flights a yr to round 452,000.

This implies JetBlue, which launched flights to Schiphol in August, will lose its potential to fly to Amsterdam subsequent summer time. At the moment, JetBlue flies two day by day routes to Schiphol — one from New York’s John F. Kennedy Worldwide Airport (JFK) and the opposite from Boston Logan Worldwide Airport (BOS).

JetBlue stated in an announcement that it will work to keep up its presence in Amsterdam regardless of the ACNL choice.

Even airways that do have historic rights at Schiphol will obtain 3.1% fewer slots for summer time 2024, impacting 84 airways on the airport, Thomassen stated.

In response to the proposed flight cuts, JetBlue filed a criticism with the U.S. Division of Transportation in October, asking the DOT to ban Dutch service KLM from JFK in anticipation that it will lose its slots at Schiphol. JetBlue argued its doable eviction from Amsterdam would run counter to the bilateral “Open Skies” settlement that governs flights between the U.S. and the Netherlands.

Schiphol’s plan to scale back flight capability has been met with important pushback from a number of airways, together with KLM, which makes use of Schiphol as a serious hub.
