The X social media platform on Tuesday restored the account of Yulia Navalnaya, the widow of Russian opposition chief Alexei Navalny, after a quick suspension.

X, previously Twitter, stated the positioning’s protection mechanism towards manipulation and spam had “mistakenly flagged” Navalnaya’s account as violating its guidelines.

“We unsuspended the account as quickly as we turned conscious of the error, and can be updating the protection,” X Security stated in a submit on Tuesday.

Navalny’s Anti-Corruption Basis had earlier tagged Elon Musk in a submit to ask “precisely which guidelines have been violated” by Navalnaya. Accounts of Navalny’s allies, similar to spokesperson Kira Yarmysh, didn’t seem to have been affected.

Navalny, 47, was a high-profile and vocal critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin. He died on Friday in an Arctic penal colony, the place he had been serving a 19-year jail time period.

The information sparked worldwide outcry, with many political leaders holding Putin answerable for the anti-corruption campaigner’s demise. Navalnaya had stated on Monday that she believed her husband was killed by Putin and vowed to proceed his work to battle for a free Russia.

Previous to her account’s momentary suspension, Navalnaya had posted a video message accusing Putin of being answerable for her husband’s demise and known as on Russian residents to rally round her within the battle to safe a free nation.

The Kremlin has rejected these allegations, with the Russian overseas ministry calling the response from political leaders “self-exposing,” on condition that no forensic medical examination has but been made obtainable.

Russia stated on Monday that an investigation into Navalny’s demise is ongoing and has insisted “all due actions are being taken.”
