A French regulator introduced Tuesday it had fined the supervisor of Amazon’s giant warehouses in France 32 million euros ($34.7 million) for extreme monitoring of its workers.

The French Information Safety Authority (CNIL) stated Amazon France Logistique gave workers scanners so as to file office duties resembling eradicating gadgets from cabinets and packing. This knowledge was then used to calculate the “high quality, productiveness and intervals of inactivity of every worker.”

CNIL dominated it was “unlawful to arrange a system measuring work interruptions with such accuracy, doubtlessly requiring workers to justify each break or interruption,” it stated.

Amazon advised CNBC in a press release: “We strongly disagree with the CNIL’s conclusions that are factually incorrect and we reserve the proper to file an attraction.”

“Warehouse administration programs are trade normal and are vital for making certain the security, high quality, and effectivity of operations and to trace the storage of stock and processing of packages on time and according to buyer expectations,” the corporate added.
