Delta, LATAM unveil 4 new and expanded routes as a part of three way partnership partnership

Along with its new three way partnership companion LATAM, Delta Air Traces desires to grow to be the chief in connectivity to South America.

To earn that title, the carriers are constructing and restoring their networks, with the most recent huge announcement approaching Friday morning.

The airways are including two new routes, restoring one flight and including an extra each day frequency in an current market.

To start out, LATAM will start flying between Miami and Medellin, Colombia, on Oct. 29. This new each day service might be operated by an Airbus A320, and it will go up towards current flights on this market operated by American Airways and Avianca.

Additionally on Oct. 29, LATAM will begin flying to Delta’s Atlanta mega-hub with its first-ever path to Lima, Peru, operated by a Boeing 767. This three-times-weekly flight (Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays) will complement Delta’s current each day service out there by working with a distinct timetable.

Delta’s flight leaves Atlanta at 3:30 p.m. and returns to Atlanta as a red-eye flight. In the meantime, LATAM’s flight will go away Atlanta as a red-eye at 10:45 p.m. and depart Lima at 12 p.m. within the afternoon.

Delta will even upgauge the route from a Boeing 767-300 to an Airbus A350-900 that options the airline’s outdated 2-2-2 business-class configuration.

In the meantime, Delta will restore service between Atlanta and Cartagena, Colombia, on Dec. 22, with three weekly flights working on Wednesday, Friday and Sundays. Delta shocked the trade in September 2019 when it introduced it was taking a 20% stake in LATAM, pulling the airline away from the Oneworld frequent flyer alliance. As a part of the funding, Delta is working to create a strategic alliance with LATAM, boosting flights in key U.S. gateway airports to Latin America.

The three way partnership permits the 2 carriers to separate income on flights between the U.S. and Canada, and South America. The deal additionally comes with antitrust immunity, that means Delta and LATAM can coordinate schedules and fares in these markets.

Delta and LATAM have already rolled out a number of customer-facing enhancements beneath the three way partnership, together with reciprocal frequent flyer accrual and redemption, elite perks and lounge entry advantages.

Up to now, the partnership has enabled the 2 airways to debut 5 new routes — Orlando to Bogota; Los Angeles to Sao Paulo; Miami to Medellin; New York to Rio de Janeiro; and Atlanta to Cartagena. Extra are anticipated to be within the works.
