The Federal Aviation Administration on Saturday ordered airways to floor greater than 170 Boeing 737 Max 9 plane for inspections, a day after after a panel on one blew out in the course of an Alaska Airways flight.

The emergency airworthiness directive will have an effect on about 171 planes worldwide and applies to U.S. airways and carriers working in U.S. territory.

No severe accidents had been reported aboard Alaska Airways Flight 1282, based on federal security officers. The flight returned to Portland, Oregon, shortly after takeoff on Friday after a pressurization subject was reported. Boeing delivered the aircraft late final 12 months.

Photographs and video of Alaska’s Boeing 737 Max 9 shared on social media confirmed a gaping gap on the aspect of the aircraft and passengers utilizing oxygen masks earlier than it returned to Portland. It had been certain for Ontario, California.

Alaska Airways in a single day stated it will floor its fleet of Boeing 737 Max 9 planes. United Airways, the biggest operator of the planes within the U.S., was getting ready to floor dozens of its Boeing 737 Max 9 plane for inspections, CNBC reported earlier Saturday.

United has near 80 of the planes in its fleet, although among the jets have not too long ago undergone in-depth, routine inspections.

The FAA stated the inspections will take between 4 and eight hours per aircraft.
