Luke Littler storms to PDC darts final with £500,000 prize at stake

Luke Littler made it to the ultimate of the 2023/24 Paddy Energy World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace. There may be £500,000 prize cash up for grabs.

LONDON — A 16-year-old named Luke Littler on Wednesday will compete within the remaining of the PDC World Darts Championship hoping to grow to be the youngest ever winner of the game’s premier match.

Littler will play within the remaining towards new world primary and fellow Brit Luke Humphries with £500,000 ($631,345) up for grabs for the winner on the Alexandra Palace in London. The runner-up will bag £200,000.

It has been a fairytale run for Littler who beat 2018 world champion Rob Cross within the semis to make it to the ultimate.

Coming into the world championship, Littler was ranked 164 by the Skilled Darts Company (PDC), the governing physique accountable for the match. On his course to the ultimate, he has knocked out some highly-ranked names within the sport together with five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld.

If Littler is victorious, he would be the youngest ever winner of the World Darts Championship. The report is held by Michael van Gerwen who received the title in 2014 on the age of 24.

Littler has grabbed the hearts and minds of followers within the U.Okay. because of his meals decisions, revealing that he likes to eat a kebab as a post-match meal.

In an interview with Sky Sports activities after his semi-final win on Tuesday, he revealed what he’ll be doing on the day of the ultimate. “I am going to do what I have been doing. Within the morning, go for a ham and cheese omelet, then come right here have my pizza after which [practise] on the board. That is what I’ve achieved daily,” Littler stated.

The 16-year previous has additionally earned the respect of his friends, and his finals opponent Humphries.

“I am in all probability going to need to play the sport of my life … to face an opportunity of beating him. I do know what’s in entrance of me, I do know the duty it’s, it’s an uphill activity. I bought to play at my greatest … I do know that,” Humphries stated in an interview with Sky Sports activities after his semi-final win.
