A Tesla plant exterior of Berlin was reportedly compelled to halt manufacturing Tuesday after an electrical energy substation was set alight in a suspected arson assault.

The Gruenheide manufacturing unit, positioned southeast of the German capital, was left with out energy, as had been elements of wider metropolis, Reuters cited German newspaper Berliner Zeitung as saying. The newspaper added that bomb disposal models had been dispatched to the positioning.

Brandenburg police advised CNBC that the incident initially appeared like arson and added that it’s at present investigating who’s accountable. Tesla was not instantly out there for remark when contacted by CNBC.

Police acquired a name alerting them to the burning electrical energy pylon within the Gosen-Neu Zittau space early Tuesday, Reuters reported.

It comes as Tesla’s enlargement plans for its Gruenheide plant have come up in opposition to fierce opposition.

The U.S. carmaker goals to double its capability to 100 gigawatt hours of battery manufacturing and 1 million vehicles per 12 months. Nevertheless, final month locals voted down plans to raze close by timber to make method for the enlarged plant.

Environmental activists started occupying a forest near Tesla’s Gruenheide plant final week in protest to the enlargement plans. The campout is predicted to final one week, although a spokeswomen for the “Cease Tesla” marketing campaign group advised DW Sunday that “the longer the occupation lasts the higher.”
